![]() ![]() My question, for those of you that read both, is: do you feel Lish's editing ended up improving the original or not? I must confess I'm kind of on the fence, tending towards the "not really". ![]() For those who don't know, these are different versions of the same book, Beginners corresponding to the first submitted manuscript of the book and WWTAWWTAL being the version that ended up being published in the 80's, after some radical editing by Gordon Lish. ![]() So, I recently finished a dual read of Beginners and What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, by Raymond Carver, who I had never read anything from before. ![]()
